Position: Swim Instructors & Lifeguards
Position open also for admin assistant/ personal assistant to owner of Swim School-- (approx additional 12-15 hours/week for office hours available to one new staff member with great organizational and people skills. Knowledge in Google docs, Microsoft Teams, office efficiency, fantastic time management skills.)
Pool Location: in Aptos at Seascape Sports Club. (this job offering is from Seahorse Swim School, Inc, as we are contracted out of this location).
Swim Season: April - October
Type: Part-Time
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour (based on experience, certifications, and reliability)
Benefits: 401(k) plan
Swim Instructor Responsibilities:
Teach swimming lessons & water safety to children (ages 6 months+) and adults, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
Comfortable and able to manage 4 -6 children at a time. (think four 2 year olds or six 8 year olds).
Comfortable talking with parents of children discussing progress and plans of action.
Commit to a consistent schedule for the season (April - October), including Tuesday/Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Morning lessons can be made available also. Looking to open up our program to morning lessons for children under age 6. Parent tot will be part of this offering.
Customize schedules based on your availability, with shifts typically lasting 3-4 hours.
Demonstrate reliability and dedication to your assigned shifts.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
Provide vigilant supervision at various locations throughout the County from April to September.
Maintain current Lifeguarding (rev. '24) and CPR PRO certifications.
Demonstrate skills before hire and during in-service training.
Travel stipend provided for drive/time/fuel.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
Patience, understanding, and excellent communication skills.
Experience teaching in the water with children.
Positive rapport with both children and parents.
Able to accept supervision and guidance and corrective feedback.
A reliable mode of transportation. Pool is located in Aptos.
Education or experience in early childhood development is a plus.
